Another week, another weak performance.  It’s getting tougher and tougher to find viable sleepers, but they’re out there, and we (I) here at the Fantasy Sports Shack am going to find them… Starting next week.  Here are the Week 8 results:

QUARTERBACK (0 for 2)

Matthew Stafford – No Calvin Johnson, no big day.
Projected: 22-35, 235 yards, 2 TD, 1 Int
Actual: 14-33, 168 yards, 1 Int, 1 rushing TD

Marc Bulger – It’s official: Bulger’s career is done.  Maybe the Rams will move on sooner than later, but to who?
Projected: 21-32, 225, 2 TD
Actual: 17-35, 176 yards, 1 Int

RUNNING BACK (2 for 3)

Beanie WellsArizona fell behind, and the touches Wells had taken away he gave back to Hightower.
Projected: 14-63 rushing, 2-9 receiving, 1 TD
Actual: 8-47 rushing

LeSean McCoy – The majority of his production came on a 66-yard run, but it all looks the same in the box score.
Projected: 13-51 rushing, 4-22 receiving, 1 TD
Actual: 11-82 rushing, 2-10 receiving, 1 TD

Justin Fargas – He hasn’t been great, but good enough to assure himself touches even when McFadden returns.
Projected: 16-60 rushing, 2-14 receiving
Actual: 18-59 rushing, 3-20 receiving, 1 TD

WIDE RECEIVER (o for 2, 1 push)

Donnie Avery – Aside from the Steven Jackson, you shouldn’t be starting a Ram, and I shouldn’t be advising you to.
Projected: 6-81, 1 TD
Actual: 1-15

Earl Bennett – The preseason sleeper sweetheart may never wake from his season-long snooze.
Projected: 4-58, 1 TD
Actual: 2-29

Mike Thomas – One fewer catch, 12 fewer yards, 1 less fantasy point.  A modest projection leads to a boring push.
Projected: 5-67
Actual: 4-55

TIGHT END (o for 1)

Bo Scaife – In the first half, it looked as though Scaife was going to have a huge day, but then he disappeared.
Projected: 5-57, 1 TD
Actual: 4-27

KICKER (0 for 1)

Matt Prater – Everything pointed to a solid day from the Denver kicker, but the Ravens‘ D shut down the Broncos’ O.
Projected: 2 FG, 3 PAT (1 FG 40+)
Actual: 1 PAT

DEFENSE (o for 1)

Arizona Cardinals – The Arizona D was exposed for what it really is Sunday, giving up 270 yards and 2 TD rushing.
Projected: 16 points allowed, 3 sacks, 1 Int
Actual: 28 points allowed, 1 sack

Scorecard for Week 8: 2 for 10, 1 push
Overall Scorecard for 2009 Season: 29 for 84, 4 pushes (35%)
